आरोग्याच्च शरीरस्य स पुनर्विन्दते श्रियम् शोकहीनता सुख और उत्तम आरोग्यका उत्पादन करती है, शरीरके नीरोग होनेसे मनुष्य फिर धन-सम्पत्तिका उपार्जन कर लेता है,अतिक्रम्य बहूनन्यांस्त्वयि तावदियं गता | कंचित् कालमियं स्थित्वा त्वयि वासव चञडचला
ārogyāc ca śarīrasya sa punar vindate śriyam | śokahīnatā sukhaṃ ca uttamārogyasya utpādikā bhavati; śarīrasya nīrogatvāt manuṣyaḥ punaḥ dhana-sampattim upārjayati | atikramya bahūn anyāṃs tvayi tāvad iyaṃ gatā | kañcit kālam iyaṃ sthitvā tvayi vāsava cañcalā ||
ビーシュマは言った。「身体の健康が回復すれば、人は繁栄を取り戻す。憂いなき心は安楽とすぐれた健やかさを生み、身が病を離れれば、再び財と資源を得ることができる。多くを踏み越えて、この移ろいやすき福運は今しばし汝のもとへ来た。しばらく汝に留まろうとも、ヴァーサヴァよ、やがてまた去ってゆく。」
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma links ethical well-being to practical flourishing: freedom from grief supports happiness and health, and health enables the recovery of prosperity; yet even prosperity (Śrī) is inherently unstable and should not be relied upon as permanent.
In Bhishma’s instruction within the Śānti Parva, he addresses Vāsava (Indra) and reflects on the movement of Fortune: she has come to Indra after leaving many others, will remain briefly, and then depart—illustrating the transient nature of worldly success.
