Śānti-parva 206: Guṇa-hetu Moha, Kāma-krodha Chain, Indriya-utpatti, and Nirodha

फल कर्मात्मकं विद्यात्‌ कर्म ज्ञेयात्मकं तथा । ज्ञेयं ज्ञानात्मकं विद्याज्ज्ञानं सदसदात्मकम्‌

phalaṁ karmātmakaṁ vidyāt karma jñeyātmakaṁ tathā | jñeyaṁ jñānātmakaṁ vidyāj jñānaṁ sad-asad-ātmakam ||

ビーシュマは言った。「『結果』は行為の性質を持つと知るべきである。行為はまた、知られるべきもの(可知の対象の領域)の性質を持つ。知られるべきものは知(ज्ञान)の性質を持つ。しかも知そのものは二重の相を備え、有と無(因と果、顕現とその前の状態)の双方に結びついている。ゆえに、結果を行為へ、行為を知へと遡って観ずれば、倫理的責任と正しい理解とが固く結ばれていることが見えてくる。」
