अध्याय १७८ — प्राणवायुगतिः तथा शारीराग्निव्यवस्था
Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire
ह्ियमाणोौ तु तौ दम्यौ तेनोष्टेण प्रमाथिना । ग्रियमाणौ च सम्प्रेक्ष्य मड्किस्तत्राब्रवीदिदम्,बलपूर्वक अपहरण करनेवाले उस ऊँटके द्वारा उन दोनों बछड़ोंको अपहृत होते और मरते देख मड़किने इस प्रकार कहा--
hriyamāṇau tu tau damyau tenoṣṭreṇa pramāthinā | griyamāṇau ca samprekṣya maḍkistatrābravīd idam ||
ビーシュマは語った。荒々しい駱駝によって二頭の子牛が力ずくで奪い去られ、マンキーがそれを見つめるうちに、子牛たちは引きずられ、ついには命を落としていった。そこで彼は次の言葉を口にした——無力な苦しみと不義の強奪がもたらす道義の衝撃に心を揺さぶられて。
