Khaḍgotpattiḥ (Origin and Dharmic Function of the Sword) | खड्गोत्पत्तिः
जनको युवनाश्रवश्च वृषादर्भि: प्रसेनजित् । लोभक्षयाद् दिवं प्राप्तास्तथैवान्ये नराधिपा:,जनक, युवनाश्वच, वृषादर्भि, प्रसेनेजित् तथा अन्य नरेश लोभका नाश करके ही दिव्यलोकमें गये हैं
janako yuvanāśvaś ca vṛṣādarbhīḥ prasenajit | lobhakṣayād divaṃ prāptās tathaivānye narādhipāḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「ジャナカ王、ユヴァナーシュヴァ、ヴリシャーダルビー、プラセーナジト——これらの王たち、また他の諸侯も、貪欲を滅したがゆえにこそ天界に至ったのである。」
भीष्म उवाच
That the decisive spiritual achievement for a ruler (and anyone) is the eradication of greed; when lobha is exhausted, one becomes fit for higher worlds and higher dharma, regardless of worldly station.
Bhīṣma is instructing by citing exemplary kings—Janaka, Yuvanāśva, Vṛṣādarbhī, Prasenajit, and others—who are said to have reached heaven specifically because they destroyed greed.
