Satya-lakṣaṇa (The Characteristics and Forms of Truth) |
asāraknāpi durmedhāḥ kevalaṃ bahu bhāṣase | krodhādibhir avacchanno mithyā vadasi śālmale śālmale ||
Speech should be grounded in substance and truth; when anger and related vices obscure the mind, one falls into falsehood and empty talk, which is ethically blameworthy.
Nārada directly admonishes Śālmali, accusing him of being foolish, speaking excessively without real substance, and lying under the influence of anger and other defects.
