कृत्वा हि पूर्व मित्राणि यः पश्चान्नानुतिष्ठति । न स मित्राणि लभते कृच्छास्वापत्सु दुर्मति:
kṛtvā hi pūrva mitrāṇi yaḥ paścān nānutiṣṭhati | na sa mitrāṇi labhate kṛcchrāsv āpatsu durmatiḥ ||
ビーシュマは語った。「初めに多くの友を作りながら、のちにその友誼に堅くとどまらぬ者は、苛烈な災厄が迫る時、もはやその友を得られぬ。苦境にあって、愚か者は自ら顧みずにいた絆から助けを受けることはない。」
