शकुनि (हिरण्मय-पक्षी) उपदेशः — Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya
एतद्वो<स्तु तपोयुक्त ददामीत्यूषिचोदितम् । तस्मात् तत् तद् व्यवस्थानं तपस्वितप उच्यते
etad vo 'stu tapoyuktaṁ dadāmīty ūṣicoditam | tasmāt tat tad vyavasthānaṁ tapasvitapa ucyate |
「これは汝らのため、タパス（tapas）を伴うものとして与える」——霊感を受けた見者はそう宣言した。ゆえに、定められたヴェーダの務め一つ一つに揺るぎなく身を投じることこそ、修行者の「タパス」と呼ばれる。内なる克己をもって規律正しく祭祀の行為に従事するとき、望む果報が授けられるのである。
