अभिद॒द्राव वेगेन सिंहो वनगजं यथा । जैसे सिंह जंगली हाथीपर झपटता है, उसी प्रकार भीमसेन गदा लेकर बड़े वेगसे आपके पुत्रकी ओर दौड़े ।।
sañjaya uvāca |
abhidadrāva vegena siṁho vanagajaṁ yathā |
upasṛtya tu rājānaṁ gadāmokṣa-viśāradaḥ |
rājan bhīmaseno gadāṁ bhrāmayitvā jigīṣayā |
duryodhanasya pārśve tu prāharad gadayā balī ||
サンジャヤは言った。「獅子が野象に猛然と躍りかかるように、ビーマセーナは棍棒（ガダー）を手に、凄まじい速さで汝の子へ突進した。ドゥルヨーダナ王に肉薄すると、棍棒打ちに熟達したビーマは武器を大きく旋回させ、止めを刺す意図のもと、その脇腹（肋）へ強烈な一撃を加えた。」
