Gadāyuddhe Kṛṣṇopadeśaḥ (Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel in the Mace-Duel) — Śalya-parva 57
सविस्फुलिड्ो निर्हादस्तयोस्तत्राभिघातज:
sa-visphuliḍo nirhādas tayos tatrābhighātajaḥ
The verse underscores the palpable consequences of violent confrontation: when force meets force, the result is not only physical damage but an overwhelming atmosphere of fear and intensity. It invites reflection on how conflict amplifies suffering and disorder, even when framed as heroic combat.
Sañjaya describes the immediate sensory effect of a powerful impact between two opponents (or their weapons): a reverberating roar and sparks erupting at the point of collision, emphasizing the ferocity of the duel in the Kurukṣetra war.
