Sārasvata–Dadhīca Upākhyāna at Sarasvatī Tīrtha
Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context
naivam ity eva śaṃsanto jaigīṣavyaṃ mahāmunim | nātaḥ parataraṃ kiṃcit tulyam asti prabhāvataḥ ||
The verse underscores the traditional Mahābhārata valuation of tapas and spiritual efficacy: true superiority is measured not by worldly status but by prabhāva—inner power born of ascetic discipline and realized wisdom.
Vaiśampāyana reports that people (or interlocutors in the account) emphatically speak in praise of the sage Jaigīṣavya, asserting that none surpasses him and that no one equals his spiritual potency.
