अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
युष्माभिस्तानि चीर्णानि यान्यसाधूनि साधुषु । अकारणकृतान्येव तेषां व: फलमागतम्
yuṣmābhis tāni cīrṇāni yāny asādhūni sādhuṣu | akāraṇakṛtāny eva teṣāṃ vaḥ phalam āgatam ||
サンジャヤは言った。「汝らが善き者に対して、何の正当な理由もなく行った非道の数々——その報いが、いま必然の果として汝らに返ってきたのだ。パーンダヴァは徳ある者であるのに、汝らが無故に加えた不当な仕打ちは、まさにこの苦果となって熟したのである。」
संजय उवाच
Unprovoked harm done to the virtuous inevitably returns as suffering to the doer; ethical causality (karma-phala) operates even amid war.
Sanjaya addresses the Kaurava side, pointing out that their present calamity is the direct outcome of earlier unjust conduct toward the Pāṇḍavas, who are characterized as sādhu (righteous).
