Sarasvatī Tīrtha Itinerary — Balarāma’s Pilgrimage
अथाब्रवीदृषिर्देवान् पश्यध्वं मा दिवौकस:
athābravīd ṛṣir devān paśyadhvaṃ mā divaukasaḥ
そのとき仙人は神々に告げた。「天界に住まう者たちよ、我を見よ。」戦の進行とともに道義の緊張が露わになるさなか、予見者は神々を証人として呼び、事が定められた帰結へと向かうにつれ、より高き監督と責任の裁きを求めたのである。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the idea of divine witness: crucial actions—especially amid war—are not merely human affairs but are morally accountable before a higher order, reinforcing dharma as something observed and judged beyond immediate power.
A sage turns to the gods and calls on them to look upon him, signaling that an important declaration, act, or turning point is about to occur and that the celestial realm is being invoked as witness to what follows.
