त्रित आत्मानमालक्ष्य कूपे वीरुतृतृणावृते । निमग्नं भरतश्रेष्ठ नरके दुष्कृती यथा

Transliteration

trita ātmānam ālakṣya kūpe vīru-tṛṇa-āvṛte | nimagnaṃ bharataśreṣṭha narake duṣkṛtī yathā ||

Translation

ヴァイシャṃパーヤナは言った。「バーラタ族の最勝者よ、草や蔓に覆われた井戸の中に己が身を見たトリタは、まるで罪人が地獄に沈むかのように感じた。死の恐怖に打たれ、ソーマの飲み物を断たれたその賢者は、自らの知恵で思案した。『この井戸に留まったまま、いかにしてソーマを飲めようか』」
