サンジャヤは言った。車軍が崩れ去ると、三千の巨大な戦象が四方からパーンダヴァの車戦の勇士たちを取り囲んだ。こうして象軍に包囲されて戦場に立つとき、バーラタよ、王よ、パーンダヴァ五兄弟は、濃い雲に覆われた五つの惑星のように見えた。この比喩は戦の陰鬱な圧力を示す。正しき者でさえ包囲を免れぬが、それでも彼らの不屈は、暴力と宿命の嵐の覆いを透かして輝くのである。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness under overwhelming pressure: even when the righteous are hemmed in by the machinery of war, their inherent splendor and resolve remain, though temporarily obscuredlike planets hidden by clouds. It also reflects the harsh impartiality of battle, where dharma must be upheld amid chaos.
After the chariot-formation is broken, a large elephant contingentthree thousand huge elephantssurrounds the Pandava chariot-fighters on all sides. Sanjaya describes the five Pandavas, enclosed by the elephant-corps, as resembling five planets covered by dense clouds.
