Unrestrained Battle Description and Śakuni’s Rear Assault
tathaiva nakulaḥ śūraḥ saubalasya sutaṃ raṇe
The verse underscores kṣatriya-dharma in wartime: a warrior like Nakula continues to meet opponents with steadiness and courage, treating battle as a grim obligation rather than a personal indulgence.
Sañjaya reports that Nakula, described as heroic, engages (or moves to engage) the son of Saubala (Śakuni) on the battlefield, indicating the ongoing sequence of duels and encounters in the Shalya Parva war narrative.
