Śalya–Yudhiṣṭhira Duel and the Discharge of the Śakti (शल्यवधप्रसङ्गः)
साश्षारोहांश्व तुरगान् पत्तींश्वैव सहस्रधा । व्यपोथयत संग्रामे क्रुद्धों रुद्रः पशूनिव
sāśvārūḍhānś ca turagān pattīṃś caiva sahasradhā | vyapothayat saṅgrāme kruddho rudraḥ paśūn iva ||
サञ्जयは語った。戦のただ中で彼は、馬上の騎兵も歩兵も、数えきれぬさまざまな形で打ち砕き、引き裂いた――怒りに燃えるルドラが獣を討ち倒すように。この偈は、戦場の憤怒が人間の戦士をも分別なき破壊の対象へと変え、見ている者に畏怖と道義的な不安を同時に呼び起こすことを示している。
