Sauptika Parva, Adhyaya 8 — Dhṛṣṭadyumna-vadha and the Camp’s Nocturnal Rout
अपने सगे सम्बन्धियोंको भी छोड़कर सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंमें भागते हुए योद्धाओंके नाम और गोत्रको पुकार-पुकारकर लोग परस्पर बुला रहे थे। कितने ही मनुष्य हाहाकार करते हुए धरतीपर पड़ गये थे ।।
tān buddhvā raṇamatto ’sau droṇaputro vyapothayat | tatrāpare vadhyamānā muhur muhur acetasaḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。人々は互いに呼び合い、四方へ逃げる戦士たちの名と氏族を叫び立てた。たとえ肉親をも捨てて逃げていても、である。多くの者は「嗚呼」と喚きながら大地に倒れ伏した。事の次第を悟るや、ドローナの子——戦の狂気に酔いしれた者——は彼らを打ち倒した。そこでは他の者たちも殺され、恐怖と混乱に呑まれて、幾度となく意識を失った。
