युधिष्ठिरने कहा--यह जो परमानन्ददायक राजरथ है

vaiśampāyana uvāca—evaṃ śrutvā vyavasito nikṛtiṃ samupāśritaḥ | jitam ity eva śakunir yudhiṣṭhiram abhāṣata ||

ユディシュティラは言った。「この至福をもたらす王車は、我らをここまで運んだ、勝利の戦車ジャイトラ――戦車の中の第一にして、功徳に満ちた聖なる車である。走れば雲と海の轟きのごとき重々しい音を響かせる。これ一乗で千の戦車に等しい。上には虎皮を張り、きわめて堅牢。車輪も諸装具も美しく、無数の小鈴で飾られている。クラーラ鳥の影のように黒い、国中で尊ばれる良馬八頭がこれを牽く。この馬の前に倒れ込む者は、足を地に着けても逃れ得ぬ。王よ、この馬とともなる戦車こそ我が財。これを賭けて、汝と賽を投じよう。」 ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「ジャナメージャヤよ、これを聞くや、欺きに身を寄せて決意を固めたシャクニは、再び賽を投げた。そして勝利を確信し、ユディシュティラに言い放った――『勝った。これもまた。』」
