Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality

एवमुकक्‍त्वा तु माद्रेय: कुशैरास्तीर्य मेदिनीम्‌,भारत! ऐसा कहकर नरश्रेष्ठ माद्रीकुमार सहदेव धरतीपर कुश बिछाकर अपनी भयभीत और उद्विग्न सेनाके अग्रभागमें विधिपूर्वक अग्निके सम्मुख धरना देकर बैठ गये

evam uktvā tu mādreyaḥ kuśair āstīrya medinīm, bhārata!

かく語り終えると、マードリーの子サハデーヴァは地にクシャ草を敷き、バーラタの末裔よ、定められた儀礼の作法に従って聖なる火の前に坐した。この場面は、動揺から規律ある遵法へと意図的に転じるさまを示す。恐れと不安のただ中にあっても、彼はダルマにかなう、規矩に則った行為を選び、節制と清浄、そして祭儀への敬虔によってその瞬間を支えるのである。
