Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
vaiśampāyana uvāca | ityevaṁ mantram āgneyam paṭhan yo juhuyād vibhum | ṛddhimān satataṁ dāntaḥ sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate ||
Ritual action joined with correct recitation and disciplined conduct is presented as a dharmic means to purification: offering oblations to Agni with the proper mantra leads to prosperity, self-mastery, and release from sin.
In Vaiśampāyana’s discourse (addressed to Janamejaya in the broader frame), he concludes a description of an Agni-related mantra by stating the फलश्रुति (promised result): the performer who recites it and makes the fire-offering to Agni attains prosperity and freedom from wrongdoing.
