diṣṭyā jayasi govinda diṣṭyā śatrur nipātitaḥ | diṣṭyā gāṇḍīvadhanvā ca vijayī pāṇḍunandanaḥ ||

The verse highlights the Mahābhārata’s recurring tension between human effort and daiva (destiny/divine dispensation): victory and the fall of a formidable foe are acknowledged as ‘diṣṭyā’—by fortune—while also implicitly crediting Kṛṣṇa’s guidance and the righteous alignment of the Pāṇḍavas’ cause.
Saṃjaya reports and celebrates the outcome of a crucial battle moment: Govinda (Kṛṣṇa) is addressed as the victorious charioteer-guide, the enemy has been brought down (contextually Karṇa), and Arjuna, wielder of the Gāṇḍīva, is declared victorious.
