teṣāṁ yodhasahasrāṇāṁ tāvakānāṁ mahāmṛdhe | nāsīt tatra pumān kaścid yo yuddhāya mano dadhe ||
サञ्जयは言った。「あなたのその幾千の戦士たちの中で、あの大いなる恐るべき合戦において、戦うことに心を固く定めた者は一人としていなかった。この瞬間は軍勢の内なる道義の崩れを示す。決意が折れれば、数や武器だけでは大義を支えられず、ダルマと自信が揺らいだところに恐れが広がるのだ。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights that victory in war (and in ethical struggle) depends not only on numbers but on inner resolve. When confidence and dharma-based conviction erode, even a large force becomes ineffective; fear and hesitation can defeat an army before weapons do.
