वैदूर्यदण्डांश्व शुभान् पतितानड्कुशान् भुवि । बद्धा: सादिभुजाग्रेषु सुवर्णविकृता: कशा:
sañjaya uvāca
vaidūryadaṇḍāṁś ca śubhān patitān aṅkuśān bhuvi |
baddhāḥ sādibhuja-agreṣu suvarṇa-vikṛtāḥ kaśāḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「地には、ヴァイドゥーリヤの宝石を嵌めた柄をもつ見事な馬追いの突き棒が数多く散らばっていた。さらに、騎手の手に固く握られていた黄金細工の鞭も、多くが断ち切られて落ちていた。この光景は、戦における統制と命令の道具そのものが砕け、暴力のただ中で秩序が崩れ去るさまを示している。」
