Karṇa-vadha-pratyaya: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Verification of Karṇa’s Fall (कर्णवध-प्रत्ययः)
त्वदीयै: सह संग्राम आसीत् परमदारुण: । माननीय नरेश! फिर आपके सैनिकोंके साथ पाज्चाल, चेदि और सृजयवीरोंका अत्यन्त भयंकर संग्राम होने लगा
tvadīyaiḥ saha saṅgrāma āsīt paramadāruṇaḥ | mānanīya nareśa! punaḥ tava sainikaiḥ saha pāñcāla-cedi-sṛjayavīrāṇām atyanta-bhayaṅkaraḥ saṅgrāmo 'bhavat |
サञ्जयは語った。「敬うべき王よ、きわめて凄惨な戦が起こった。ふたたび陛下の軍勢は、パーンチャーラ、チェーディ、そしてスṛñジャヤの勇士たちとの、恐るべき激突へと引き込まれていった。」
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the escalating brutality of war: once hostilities are set in motion, clashes recur with increasing ferocity, reminding the listener (the king) of the grave ethical weight and consequences borne by rulers and armies.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a renewed and extremely fierce battle has erupted between the king’s forces and the allied warriors of the Pāñcālas, Cedis, and Sṛñjayas.
