Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira
Chapter 45
adya drakṣyasi taṁ vīra śvetāśvaṁ kṛṣṇasārathim | nidhnantaṁ śātravān saṅkhye yaṁ karṇa paripṛcchasi ||
The verse underscores the decisive power of a righteous warrior supported by wise (and here, divine) guidance: Arjuna’s prowess is inseparable from Kṛṣṇa’s charioteership, suggesting that strength in war is ethically and strategically elevated when aligned with higher counsel and dharma.
Sañjaya addresses Karṇa and foretells an immediate battlefield sight: Karṇa will now witness Arjuna—on a chariot drawn by white horses with Kṛṣṇa as charioteer—actively slaughtering enemy forces, answering Karṇa’s earlier curiosity about him.
