Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira

Chapter 45

sañjaya uvāca | paśya yūthair bahuvidhair mugāṇāṃ sarvato diśam | iti śrīmahābhārate karṇaparvaṇi karṇaśalya-saṃvāde ṣaṭcatvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||

Educational Q&A

The line highlights how confusion and moral disorientation can become widespread—especially amid war—so that beings move like herds, driven by fear and impulse rather than discernment (viveka).

Sanjaya, narrating events, calls attention to a scene where many groups of bewildered beings are visible in every direction; the verse also functions as a closing colophon marker for the chapter within the Karna–Shalya dialogue section.
