Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 58: Yudhiṣṭhira’s dawn rites, royal gifts, and the reception of Kṛṣṇa
tena yajjair bahuvidhair iṣṭaṃ paryāptadakṣiṇaiḥ | sa rājā vīryavān dhīmān avāpya vasu puṣkalam ||
Prosperity gained through dharmic means is linked to properly performed sacrifices and, crucially, to generous and sufficient dakṣiṇā—ethical giving that completes the rite and honors those who uphold it.
Nārada describes a king’s conduct: he performs many varieties of yajñas with adequate gifts to the officiants, and as a result he attains great wealth—presented as the fruit of disciplined ritual action and generosity.
