असम्भ्रान्तश्न तान् सर्वानिगृह्नात् फाल्गुनात्मज: । कर्णने भी उसके ऊपर झुकी हुई गाँठवाले बहुत-से बाण चलाये; परंतु अर्जुनकुमारने उन सबको बिना किसी घबराहटके सह लिया
sañjaya uvāca | asambhrāntaḥ sa tān sarvān nigṛhṇāt phālgunātmajaḥ | karṇena bhīṣmaka-upamān bahūn bāṇān pracoditān | sa tu sarvān anāyāsaṃ soḍhavān iti ||
サञ्जयは語った。動揺せず、泰然自若として、パールグナ（アルジュナ）の子はそれらすべての攻めを受け止め、耐え抜いた。カルナが、節の固い重い矢を数多放ち、その決意を砕こうとしても、若き戦士は少しも狼狽せずに堪え、戦場の混乱の中で心の不動を示した。
