Droṇa’s Fall: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Inquiry
दन्तवर्णस्तु राजानं कालवाला युधिष्ठटिरम् भीमवेगा नरव्याप्रमवहन् वातरंहस:,हाथीके दाँतके समान सफेद रंग, काली एूँछ तथा वायुके समान तीव्र एवं भयंकर वेगवाले घोड़े नरश्रेष्ठ राजा युधिष्ठिरको रणक्षेत्रमें ले गये
dantavarṇas tu rājānaṃ kālavālā yudhiṣṭhiram | bhīmavegā naravyāghram avahan vātarāṃhasaḥ ||
サञ्जयは言った。象牙のごとく白く、鬣は黒く、風のように疾く、その疾走は恐るべき馬たちが、「人中の虎」たる王ユディシュティラを戦場へと運んだ。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the tension between dharma and warfare: even a righteous king like Yudhiṣṭhira is drawn into battle by duty and circumstance, suggesting that ethical responsibility must be upheld even amid unavoidable conflict.
Sañjaya describes Yudhiṣṭhira being conveyed into the fight by exceptionally swift, fearsome horses—white like ivory and black-maned—emphasizing the urgency and intensity of the ongoing battle in Droṇa Parva.
