शरं कालाग्निसंयुक्त विष्णुसोमसमायुतम् । उस समय दानव उन नगरोंकी ओर और कालाग्निसे संयुक्त एवं विष्णु तथा सोमकी शक्तिसे सम्पन्न उस बाणकी ओर भी आँख उठाकर देख न सके
śaraṃ kālāgnisaṃyuktaṃ viṣṇusomasamāyutam |
ヴィヤーサは語った。時の火（カーラの火）の焼き尽くす力を帯び、ヴィシュヌとソーマの威力により加護されたただ一本の矢は、あまりに圧倒的であったため、ダーナヴァたちはその城々へも、その燃えさかる矢そのものへも、目を上げて見ることすらできなかった。この場面は、アダルマが神意に裏づけられた力に直面するとき、戦いにおいてのみならず、勇気と認識においてさえ崩れ落ちることを示している。
