so 'tividdho balavatā droṇaputreṇa sārathiḥ

サンジャヤは言った――その御者は、ドローナの子の強烈な一撃に貫かれて重傷を負った。戦においては、ただ導き仕える者でさえ、強者の放つ暴力から免れ得ぬことを示す光景であった。

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the indiscriminate reach of battlefield violence: even a sārathi, whose role is service and guidance rather than direct combat, becomes a victim when power is wielded without restraint. It invites reflection on the ethical cost of war and the vulnerability of those supporting the warriors.

Sañjaya reports that a charioteer has been powerfully pierced/wounded by Droṇa’s son (Aśvatthāman). The line functions as a vivid battlefield detail within Droṇa Parva’s ongoing combat narration.
