परमन्धकवृष्णिभ्य: पज्चालेभ्यश्व मारिष । तथैवान्धकवृष्णीनां तथैव च विशेषत:
paramāndhakavṛṣṇibhyaḥ pāñcālebhyaś ca māriṣa | tathaivāndhakavṛṣṇīnāṃ tathaiva ca viśeṣataḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「おお、尊ぶべき御方よ。アンダカ族とヴリシュニ族の中でも最も卓越した者たち、そしてパンチャーラの人々に対して、大いなる敵意が向けられた。しかもアンダカ族とヴリシュニ族の側にも同様の敵意があり――とりわけ激しかった。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how war intensifies mutual animosity between allied groups; it implicitly warns that collective identities (clans and kingdoms) can harden into reciprocal hostility, escalating violence beyond individual grievances.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that strong antagonism is directed toward the Andhaka–Vṛṣṇi side and the Pāñcālas, and that the Andhaka–Vṛṣṇis respond in kind—suggesting a particularly fierce phase of conflict among these forces.
