pāṇḍavās tu jayaṁ labdhvā paratra ca mahad yaśaḥ

The verse links worldly victory with posthumous renown: when success is aligned with dharma, it yields not only immediate results (jaya) but also lasting ethical glory (yaśas) that extends to the hereafter (paratra).
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, remarks that the Pāṇḍavas have secured victory and, along with it, great fame that will endure beyond this life—framing their outcome as both a military and moral attainment.
