yadā tv asaṅgṛhītatvāt prayānty aśvā yathāsukham | tato duḥśāsanaḥ sūtaṃ bubudhe gatacetasam ||
サンジャヤは言った。誰も手綱を取らぬままになったため、馬たちが思うがままに四方へ走り散ったとき、ドゥフシャーサナは、自らのスータ(御者)が意識を失っている—まるで討たれたか、務めを果たせぬほどに倒れた—ゆえに戦車が制御を失ったのだと悟った。
संजय उवाच

Duḥśāsana notices the horses scattering freely because no one is controlling them, and from this he understands that his charioteer has become unconscious or has been struck down, leaving the chariot effectively leaderless.
