Shloka 383

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how extraordinary, otherworldly signs can accompany decisive moments in the war: the cosmos appears crowded with celestial beings, suggesting that human action unfolds under a larger moral and cosmic order, where events are witnessed and weighed beyond the battlefield.

Sañjaya describes a striking दृश्य: the sky looks densely packed and radiant, as if clouded over, because it is imagined as filled with apsarases, yakṣas, and gandharvas—an omen-like, celestial spectacle surrounding the ongoing conflict.
