sa karṇa-sāyakān aṣṭau vyasṛjat krodha-mūrcchitaḥ
The verse highlights the ethical danger of krodha (anger): when a warrior is overwhelmed by wrath, action becomes rapid and forceful, but discernment can narrow—an implicit warning about emotional mastery even amid righteous or fated conflict.
Sañjaya narrates that Karṇa, seized by anger, shoots eight arrows in quick succession, indicating an intensified exchange in the battle scene.
