मज्जत्सु चक्रेषु रथान्‌ सत्त्वमास्थाय वाजिन: । कथंचिदवहडउश्रान्ता वेपमाना: शरार्दिता:

Transliteration

majjatsu cakreṣu rathān sattvam āsthāya vājinaḥ | kathaṃcid avahaḍuśrāntā vepamānāḥ śarārditāḥ ||

Translation

サञ्जयは語った。戦車の車輪が泥濘に沈み込むと、馬たちは力を奮い起こし、どうにか戦車を前へと引きずって進ませた。疲れ果て、震え、矢に苛まれながらもである。この光景は戦の陰惨な推進力を示す。肉体が尽き、恐怖が身を揺さぶっても、戦の機構はただ耐え忍ぶ力によって前へ前へと押し進むのだ。
