अर्धासिभिस्तथा खड्गैस्तोमरै: सपरश्वधैः । निकृष्टयुद्धं संसक्तं महदासीत् सुदारुणम्,एक ओर धारवाली और दुधारी तलवारों, तोमरों तथा फरसोंद्वारा जो अत्यन्त निकटसे युद्ध चल रहा था, वह भी बहुत ही क्रूरतापूर्ण एवं भयंकर था
ardhāsibhistathā khaḍgaistomaraiḥ saparaśvadhaiḥ | nikṛṣṭayuddhaṃ saṃsaktaṃ mahadāsīt sudāruṇam ||
サンジャヤは言った。「半剣と長剣、トマラの槍と斧とで、戦いは至近の間合いへと縮まり、巨大でこの上なく凄惨な殺戮となった。この偈は、戦が手と手の近接暴力へと崩れ落ちるとき、害の規模と人の行いの残酷さがいよいよ増し、抑制も慈悲も押し流されることを示している。」
