Vyāsa urges emotional restraint in the midst of war: do not be consumed by anger or grief, and recognize causality without collapsing into lamentation—an ethical call to steadiness (dhairya) while facing the consequences of battle.
Vyāsa addresses a Bharata hero, stating that an (unnamed) Rākṣasa has been killed in the fighting due to that hero’s agency, and he counsels him not to react with rage or sink into sorrow.
