The verse highlights the relentless momentum of war: even after a withdrawal or reversal, forces regroup and re-enter combat, while commanders like Droṇa and Karṇa intensify violence. Ethically, it underscores how leadership decisions in a dharma-yuddha context can escalate destruction, reminding readers that strategic prowess and duty can coexist with grave human cost.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira’s large army, having turned back again, returns to the battlefield. In response, Droṇa and Karṇa press forward and begin crushing the opposing side in the fight.
