The verse highlights the ethical strain of war: even revered figures like a teacher (Droṇa) become targets when duty to one’s cause and survival overrides personal reverence. It underscores how anger and collective momentum can intensify violence, challenging the ideal of dharma amid battlefield necessity.
During a terrifying night engagement, the allied Pāṇḍava and Sṛñjaya warriors, filled with wrath, rush together to assault Droṇa, indicating a coordinated attempt to overwhelm a formidable commander.
