Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how collective resolve toward conflict (“yuyutsā”) rapidly escalates into a vast battle “swelling” with destruction, implicitly warning that war—once joined by both sides—tends to magnify loss beyond intention, raising ethical reflection on responsibility and restraint.

Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, after the preceding events, the Kaurava and Pāṇḍava forces assembled and a great battle erupted between them, marked by intense and expanding carnage.
