tad idaṃ samanuprāptaṃ kṣattur niḥśreyasaṃ vacaḥ | iti saṃcintya te putro nottaraṃ pratyapadyata |

Wholesome counsel (niḥśreyasaṃ vacaḥ), when ignored, later appears as an undeniable truth through suffering. The verse highlights moral accountability: calamity is not merely ‘fate’ but the fruition of disregarded ethical guidance.
Sanjaya reports that Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s son, recalling Vidura’s earlier beneficial warnings, recognizes that the present crisis has unfolded exactly as foretold. Overcome by this realization, he is unable to respond.
