Chapter 137: Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki) Slays Somadatta; Yudhiṣṭhira Redirected from Droṇa
ye bhīmasenaṁ saṁkruddham anvadhāvan vimohitāḥ | mama ye mandabuddhi-putrā mohitāḥ krodha-bhareṇa bhīmasenasyābhimukhaṁ drutam anvadhāvan, te pataṅgā iva vahnim eva prapetire ||
Anger and delusion (krodha and moha) destroy discernment; when one rushes toward danger without judgment—like a moth to flame—one invites ruin. The verse underscores ethical responsibility to restrain passion and act with clear understanding, especially in war.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra laments that his sons, confused and driven by rage, charged toward the furious Bhīma. The image suggests their assault was reckless and doomed, as if they were leaping into fire.
