Duryodhana’s Appeal to Karna — The Kripa–Karna Dialogue
स कर्णचापप्रभवानिषूनाशीविषोपमान् । बिभ्रद् भीमो महाराज न जगाम व्यथां रणे,महाराज! कर्णके धनुषसे छूटे हुए विषधर सर्पके समान भयंकर बाणोंको अपने शरीरपर धारण करते हुए भीमसेन रणक्षेत्रमें व्यथित नहीं हुए
sa karṇacāpaprabhavāniṣūnāśīviṣopamān | bibhrad bhīmo mahārāja na jagāma vyathāṃ raṇe ||
大王よ、ビーマはカルナの弓から放たれた、毒蛇にも似た恐るべき矢をその身に受けながらも、戦場において痛みに屈せず、少しも怯まず揺らがなかった。
कर्ण उवाच
The verse praises steadfastness under suffering: a warrior committed to his duty does not let pain break his resolve. It frames endurance and fearlessness as key virtues within the harsh moral world of battlefield dharma.
Karna describes Bhima’s reaction to being struck by Karna’s terrifying, serpent-like arrows: despite being pierced and carrying those shafts in his body, Bhima does not become distressed and continues fighting without wavering.
