Duryodhana’s Appeal to Karna — The Kripa–Karna Dialogue
sañjaya uvāca | anekān viprakārāṃś ca sūtaputra-samudbhavān | smaramāṇaḥ kathaṃ bhīmo yuyuthe sūtasūnunā ||

The verse points to the ethical tension in righteous warfare: even when one remembers past injuries, a warrior must act with discipline and within dharma, not merely from personal vengeance. It foregrounds self-restraint amid justified conflict.
Sañjaya describes (or prompts reflection on) Bhīma’s combat with Karṇa, noting that Bhīma had many reasons for resentment due to Karṇa’s past harmful acts. The focus is on how Bhīma nevertheless entered the fight despite those remembered wrongs.
