द्रोणस्तु समरे क्रुद्धों भीम॑ नवभिरायसै: । विव्याध समरश्लाघी मर्माण्युद्दिश्य वीर्यवान्,युद्धकी स्पृह्ठा रखनेवाले पराक्रमी द्रोणाचार्यने रणभूमिमें कुपित हो भीमके मर्मस्थानोंको लोहेके नौ बाणोंसे घायल कर दिया
droṇas tu samare kruddho bhīmaṁ navabhir āyasaiḥ | vivyādha samarāślāghī marmāṇy uddiśya vīryavān ||
サञ्जयは言った。激戦のただ中で、ドローナは—怒りに燃えつつも己が武芸を誇り—ビーマの急所を狙い、鉄の矢を九本もって貫いた。この場面は、戦においては熟達と憤怒が結びつき、第一の勇者に対してさえ、意図的で的確な傷害となり得ることを示している。
