भीष्मस्य मण्डलव्यूहः — Bhīṣma’s Maṇḍala Battle-Formation and the Opening Engagements
सौमदत्तिस्तत:ः क्रुद्धस्तेषां चापानि भारत | चिच्छेद समरे राजन् युध्यमानो महारथै:,भरतवंशीनरेश! उस समय क्रोधमें भरे हुए भूरिश्रवाने उन महारथियोंके साथ युद्ध करते हुए ही समरभूमिमें उनके धनुष काट डाले
saumadattis tataḥ kruddhas teṣāṁ cāpāni bhārata | ciccheda samare rājan yudhyamāno mahārathaiḥ ||
サञ्जャヤは言った。「そのときサウマダッティ(ブーリシュラヴァス)は怒りに燃え、バーラタよ、戦場において、王よ、あの大車戦士たちと戦いながらも、彼らの弓を断ち切った。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) can intensify violence in war, while also showing a tactical aspect of kṣatriya combat: disabling an opponent by cutting the bow. It implicitly contrasts martial skill with the ethical risk of wrath-driven action.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhūriśravas, son of Somadatta, became enraged and, while fighting great warriors, severed their bows in the midst of battle.
