tato duryodhano rājā samāśvasya viśāmpate | nyavartayat tat sainyaṁ dravamāṇaṁ samanantataḥ ||
In warfare, collective outcomes often hinge on leadership and morale: when a leader regains steadiness, panic can be checked and order restored. Ethically, the verse highlights how inner composure (self-control) becomes a decisive force amid external chaos.
Sanjaya reports that Duryodhana recovers from his disorientation, takes heart, and successfully turns back the Kaurava troops who were scattering and fleeing in all directions, reconstituting the battle line.
