Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash
द्रौपदेयाउभिमन्युश्न॒ परिवद्रुर्धन॑ जयम् । उस समय सात्यकि, विराट, ट्रुपदकुमार धृष्टद्युम्न, द्रौपदीके पाँचों पुत्र और अभिमन्यु --इन सबने अर्जुनको उनकी रक्षाके लिये चारों ओरसे घेर लिया
sañjaya uvāca | draupadeyābhimanyūś ca parivavruḥ dhanañjayam |
サンジャヤは言った。ドラウパディーの五人の子らとアビマンニュは、ダナンジャヤ(アルジュナ)を守るため四方から取り囲んだ。そのときサーティヤキ、ヴィラाट、ドリシュタデュムナ、そしてドルパダの子らもまた、防衛の輪を結び、戦場の圧迫の中でアルジュナを護った。
संजय उवाच
Even in war, dharma expresses itself as responsibility toward one’s companions: protecting a key warrior is not merely tactics but an ethical commitment of loyalty, gratitude, and collective duty.
During the battle, Arjuna (Dhanañjaya) is encircled by his supporters—Draupadī’s sons and Abhimanyu, along with leading allies like Sātyaki, Virāṭa, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Drupada’s sons—who form a protective ring around him.
